I completed a traditional five year apprenticeship in Bristol, beginning as an eighteen year old, with the restoration of piano cases and the principles of french polishing. I moved onto key repairs and servicing pedal actions, before establishing in my third year the practice of action restoration and regulation. As the critical assembly of moving parts, the action must function efficiently and once repaired must be optimised within the regulation process.

After gaining a valuable and broad footing within a highly specialised trade I began training in piano tuning, at the respected Newark College. While further embarking on a process of self study, not only into traditional practice but also establishing first hand research into modern designs around Europe. I now operate my own business, from my base here in Bristol, covering the South West, South Wales, Southern England, London and the Midlands.
